What does it look like to build a practical queer theology that doesn’t use queer apologetics as its foundation?

Much of the best Bible scholarship today focuses on queer apologetics— that is, queer people defending their right to exist as beloved children of God. A quick look at the political attitude towards LGBTQ+ folks both in the U.S. and around the world tells us that queer apologetics is still necessary, but it’s not for our spiritual nourishment any more. It’s about the spiritual growth of queerphobic folks so that they stop harming others.

But what is there for our growth? What does a theology that views the Divine from a queer perspective have to teach us about God? What could it teach us about ourselves?

I explore these questions and more on my Substack Queer Faith, a new offering from Reclamation Theology.

I have free and paid subscription options available; I hope you’ll join me there.
